MELLOW – smart collaborative workflow development in the footwear industry
About the MELLOW project
The MELLOW research project aims to improve two key aspects withing the footwear manufacturing process. First, to facilitate workers to ensure product quality during production by developing and introducing an AI-based assistance system. Second, to promote cooperation in international factory networks to improve work and process quality. For this purpose, so-called collaboration islands with planners and workers should help to strengthen cross-location social standards and ergonomic working conditions.
Project goals of MELLOW
- New formats for international collaboration will be trialed, and cooperation between companies will be strengthened.
- An AI-based assistance system will be developed to help ensure product quality throughout the manufacturing process.
- Job profiles for workers and planners are to be revised and further developed in order to reduce monotonous work processes and the associated stress levels.
The aim is to ensure that the employees of the application partners benefit from the improvement of work processes in terms of occupational safety and productivity, as well as from the knowledge exchange across locations. To support the transfer of project outcomes to the wider industry, the results will be documented in the form of guidelines, workbooks, and other formats and made publicly available.
